I was an Research Assistant with the Katie Davis and the Information School at the University of Washington. My goal for the summer was to collect and analyze data relating to the digital badge system that my team have developed for use in an out-of-school science program at Seattle’s Pacific Science Center.

Dates: July 2018 - September 2018

Role: Research Assistant

Interviews

I went through and listened to interviews that were conducted and transcribed the missing pieces of each interview. Also, I created an excel sheet that contains 20 student interviews and their answers to the 25 questions that my team asked them. As I went through the interviews, I also took notes of suggestions, mentioned by the students, on how to improve the digital badge system and any other important information said by the students. I used all this data to help find pieces of information that would help my team understand the key theme challenges of technical, sociotechnical, and sociocultural.

Surveys

The team had conducted two rounds of surveys and I went through both surveys to analyze the data and create graphs based on the responses. Additionally, I went through the survey questions and got an aggregate score (1-7) for each question based on all of the student's responses. After that, I analyzed both surveys and their responses to create a comparison document.
